"The design celebrates the heritage of the South Eveleigh locomotive sheds, while giving Quantium a space that encourages collaboration. It is comfortable, yet polished, reflects their values, can support their growth over time, and is a place we hope they are proud to call home." KELLIE PAYNE Director, Bates Smart

Bates Smart, the accomplished architects and designers, have revitalised the workplace, showcasing the beauty of the original 19th-century building through thoughtful integrations that pay homage to its engineering heritage. The design approach gracefully embraces the existing industrial aesthetic instead of overshadowing it, allowing the expansive space to reveal its true character.

This workspace features a network of voids that bring unity to the 8,000-square-meter setting. Two central atria serve as hubs for collaboration and social interaction, while steel-framed pavilions create both drama and privacy for work areas. The reception and barista bar are distinguished by concrete joinery, and warm timber accents invite employees into collaborative spaces. Custom-designed rugs, matching the heritage machines' colours, bind the space together, employing materials such as steel, concrete, and timber to combine tactility with practicality.
