Beautifully renovated to offer the perfect contemporary lifestyle, this 1930s Art Deco bungalow is furnished to feel warm and inviting and function as a family home. Designer Lua Henri curated pieces for the front rooms, with their existing Jarrah floors, leadlight windows, cornices, and ceiling roses that speak to its original architectural language, such as a dramatic marble coffee table, sofa and pair of armchairs swathed in deep blue velvet. A floor lamp adds height to the composition and gently illuminates the space. The home's addition is grounded by polished concrete floors and lighter timbers and flows seamlessly to the outdoor space where an established Jacaranda tree pulls focus. Cocooning outdoor armchairs provide a space to relax, while an extendable ceramic-topped table caters for gatherings of any size. In the master bedroom, a slightly arched upholstered bedhead flanked by simplistic timber tables makes an elegant statement. "The house has two identities: the original Art Deco section, with its formal structure, and the new contemporary extension,” Lua explains. "Our design honours both, creating a harmonious blend of the old and the new while allowing for effortless indoor and outdoor living that is integral to the Western Australian way of life.”
